Hello JMACers,
Mid/late April feels like the time of year where it’s safe to say that we’re finally past potential winter-like weather, but who knows… it’s Chicago, after all!
Friday Night Movie Night
JMAC will be hosting a movie night this quarter! The 3-hour film that will be screened is Seven Samurai. This critically-acclaimed, epic adventure-drama takes place in 1586, during the Sengoku period of Japanese history. It tells the story of farmers who hire ronin (masterless samurai) to combat bandits stealing the village’s crops.
The film Seven Samurai will be screened tomorrow night, April 21st from 6-10pm in Schmitt Academic Center room 254. Popcorn and beverages will be provided. :)
Next Week’s Meeting: Spring Quarter Week 5
Join us next week for a meeting on Monday, April 24th from 4-9pm in room 380 (nearby the Center for Students with Disabilities) in the Lincoln Park Student Center. The social hour will be three mini-panels about the seiyuu from Love Live!, the Japanese horror film Ringu, and a lookback on JMAC history.
The showing for next week (aka week 5) will be Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. This sci-fi movie tells the story of an abduction and rescue of an interstellar pop band. The film is a visual realization of “Discovery,” the second studio album by Daft Punk.
And finally, drop by for more episodes of our humorous running series Nichijou.
