JMAC’s 4th Annual Cosplay Showcase

Join us tomorrow, Saturday October 29th, for the Cosplay Showcase! This event will take place from 12-2pm in room 314AB of the Lincoln Park Student Center. Lots of awesome cosplayers will be showing off their costumes in the hopes of winning some awesome prizes. Hope to see you there :D

Next Week’s Meeting: Fall Quarter Week 8

The next JMAC meeting will be on actual Halloween, Monday, October 31st from 4-9pm in room 314B of the Lincoln Park Student Center. We’ll kick off with a social hour with the haunted game of Witch Hunt!

Our weekly showing will be Sadako vs Kayako (The Ring vs The Grudge), a live action supernatural horror film. After purchasing a video to cassette DVD converter, two university students unknowingly unleash the demonic entity Sadako. The only way to defeat Sadako is by pitting her against the equally powerful Kayako.

In honor of next Monday’s quickly-approaching holiday, the theme for this powerpoint is Halloweeb~ You can check out the featured weebs on this week’s powerpoint slides.

The slides also feature a highly relevant hint about this year’s voice actor, a manga of the month that had a summer 2016 anime, and a music video from a very, very well-known anime series.

A Few Reminders

Sendin’ this email a lil bit early as a reminder to join us tonight for Friday Night Movie Night! This event will take place tonight from 6-10pm in Arts & Letters room 203 for dubbed screenings of The Girl Who Leapt through Time and Summer Wars. Popcorn will be provided! :D

An additional reminder to join us for JMAC’s 4th Annual Cosplay Showcase~ It’ll take place on Saturday, October 29th from 12-2pm in Student Center room 314AB.

Do you have an awesome costume or cosplay to show off? (need not be from animanga!) Enter the Cosplay Showcase for a chance to win a $50, $25 or $15-value prize! This year, prizes will also be awarded specifically for performance and craftsmanship. Check the powerpoint for further details. The deadline to enter as a participant is THIS MONDAY, October 24th! :O

Next Week’s Meeting: Fall Quarter Week 7

The next JMAC meeting will be on Monday, October 24th from 4-9pm in room 314B of the Lincoln Park Student Center. Our social hour from 4-5 will be an anime voice over activity!

Afterwards, our weekly showing will be Mononoke. This anime takes place in feudal Japan, where a “Medicine Seller” travels from place to place to slay malevolent spirits. Upon locating a spirit, he must learn its Form, its Truth, and its Reason before wielding the mighty Exorcism Sword.

And lastly, join us to continue our running series From the New World.

A Few Reminders

JMAC’s Friday Night Movie Night will take place next Friday, October 21st from 6-10pm in Arts & Letters room 203. We’ll be screening film by director and animator Mamoru Hosoda, which are The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars (both dubbed). Don’t miss out on our anticipated movie night~

The 4th Annual Cosplay Showcase will be held on Saturday, October 29th from 12-2pm in Student Center room 314AB! Join us in the spirit of Halloween for this entertaining event… and entry for the showcase is still open!

The grand and runner-up prizes for the Cosplay Showcase are $50 and $25 gift cards, respectively. This year, there will also be rewards based on performance and craftsmanship. Further info is in the powerpoint, but the deadline to enter is Monday, October 24th (aaa it’s quickly approaching)!!

The next JMAC meeting will be held this Monday, October 17th from 4-9pm in room 325 (ahha… a different room) of the Lincoln Park Student Center.

Join us at the start of the meeting to catch a panel about anime directors, our social hour for the week~

Afterwards, the weekly showing will be Origin: Spirits of the Past. This animated movie takes place in a world where plant life destroyed human civilization. It follows a villager named Agito and all that happens upon awakening a girl from the past.

And lastly, we’ll continue watching episodes from our running series for the fall quarter: From the New World.

A Few Reminders

The 4th Annual Cosplay Showcase (the former “Halloween Masquerade” and “Halloween Cosplay Showcase + Dancing”) will take place at the end of this month! Join us to celebrate all things cosplay and the spirit of Halloween. The Cosplay showcase is on Saturday, October 29th from 12-2pm.

Check out the powerpoint for all the info for entering the contest. All DePaul students/alums are welcome to enter! The deadline to enter the cosplay showcase is Monday, October 22nd.

Join us for our weekly showing of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Though typical high schooler Kyon has given up his belief in the supernatural, he inspires his whimsical classmate, Haruhi, to create her own club. As a result, Haruhi forms the SOS Brigade to specialize in all things supernatural.
